Cute & Sparkly Skittlette

Here's a cute skittlette mani that I've been sporting for a few days. I thought I'd share it with all of you! I seen something just like it on Instagram by someone else and thought it was so cute that I had to do it myself.

I started out with Essie's Naughty Nautical on my thumb, pointer finger, and pinky finger.

Then I added Cult Nails Nevermore to my ring finger. BTW, I LOVE this black, it is the perfect one coater black. It's so shiny and glossy too, just the perfect black and for someone like me who loves dark colors, this is the holy grail of blacks!

Then I wanted some sparkle, I added Pure Ice Beware to my middle finger. This is a fine silver glitter and I used 3 coats to achieve the desired look. Also just to let you know how fine it is, I only had to add 2 thin coats of topcoat to get this one nice and smooth! Amazing!!

Then I took the Pure Ice Beware, Essie Naughty Nautical, and Cult Nails Tempest (which is an amazing almost one coat self-leveling white) to make the dots on my ring finger. And on the thumb I used Tempest, Nevermore, and Beware to make the flower. So here is the finished product. I hope you love it as much as I do!!

Essie Naughty Nautical

Today I have Essie Naughty Nautical for you. This is one I got as a gift in a gift exchange and I love it. The color is a little more deeper than I thought it would be but that is good with me. Naughty Nautical is a nice teal color with silver shimmer embedded in it. The shimmer is very light and once I put it on, it was hard to see, you can really see the shimmer in the bottle.

Application of this was great. It wasn't runny or thick and goopy. The consistency was perfect. I had no problems what so ever and it applied evenly with no streaks. This is 2 coats and I actually hadn't applied a topcoat to this so you can see that it has a nice shine to it on it's own. I bet with a topcoat this one would really shine. It dried almost completely in about 3-4 minutes.

Essie Watermelon

Today I just have something fairly simple for you. I did this mani a little while ago and I finally have it up on the blog for you. I have Essie Watermelon which is a beautiful pinky watermelon shade. I really love this color. I love Essie's formula, it goes on pretty smooth and I haven't had any problems with it being too runny, streaky, or too thick and goopy. For me it has been pretty spot on with the Essie polishes that I've gotten lately. This color just screams summer to me for some reason.

I wanted to add a little something so I added an accent finger with a paint splatter effect. I had read online somewhere on how to do this and though "huh, can't be that hard". Let me tell you, it isn't difficult but it does take a good set of lungs to pull off a paint splatter.

To achieve a paint splatter take on a sheet of paper put drops of the colors that you want to use, I used Zoya Purity and Raven. Then take a regular drinking straw. But before you start doing anything make sure you use tape to tape up your finger leaving only your nail showing through, it makes clean up so much easier, trust me.

Once you're all taped up, you have your straw and polishes ready. Dip the end of the straw into one of the colors, position it over your finger and blow. I mean BLOW and blow hard and quick. The first time I was just like "Whew" and nothing happened, then I blew a little harder, still nothing happened, then I gave it all I had and voila! Splatter!! Repeat with that color if desired.

Then when you have the first color finished repeat the process with your next color but I used a new straw for the new color. I mean, straws are cheap, right.

Once you've got your splatter done to your liking you can remove your tape and use your brush/swab and acetone to finish clean up. Let dry somewhat and then apply a topcoat. Now you're good to go!

NOTD: Mint Candy Apple Dotticure

For this cute little dotticure I did I started out with my base of Essie Mint Candy Apple. For the dots and flower I used Zoya Natty and Purity. I thought this would be a cute little mani.

I will admit that once I added the Natty dots it slightly changed the way the Mint Candy Apple looked to me. Alone the Mint Candy Apple looks like a pastel minty aqua but once I added the Natty it looked more like a pastel blue. Kind of like Zoya's Blue. I find it amusing how adding different colors to a manicure can change the appearance of the base color.

Essie Mint Candy Apple

This color is one that I had been wanting for a very long time but everytime I went to go purchase it they were all out. Well, this time I got lucky and they had just restocked. I am happy to be bringing you Essie's Mint Candy Apple. This creme is a minty pastel aqua and it is gorgeous! I am totally in love with this color!

I have to say I was afraid that it was going to apply streaky like some other polishes I own in this color family but not this one. It didn't streak, it wasn't thick and goopy, and it wasn't watery and runny either. The formula on this one was perfect! It applied like a dream!

2 coats is all this one took to achieve the opacity I desired and it dried in a reasonable amount of time. It even had a bit of a shine on it's own so you maybe could get by with not adding a top coat. I added a top coat of Out The Door just because I like the extra shine and protection and I wanted to speed up the dry time so that I could get on with my day.
