Simple Nail Art with Cult Nails

Things have been super crazy out at the Midwest Lacquered Momma farm and household so I've just got something super simple for you today. I did this because I needed a mani but didn't have a lot of time to do something more.

I started out with a "clean slate" and used Cult Nails Tempest. This is an amazing white that Maria created. If you do it right it can be a one coater, it's also self leveling so you don't get those nasty streaks. I always do 2 coats just because sometimes I'm a little shaky and I like that second coat to smooth things out for me. Since I was in a hurry I added a topcoat of Cult Nails Wicked Fast fast dry topcoat. This stuff is awesome and I'm sad I'm almost out and can't place an order yet. :(

I wore this beautiful white as is for a couple days, nice and crisp and clean. But then after a couple days I was getting the itch to add to it, unfortunately I was at my Mom's out of town and didn't have my mani supplies with me so I dug around in her stuff to see what I could find.

I found some really cute star nail stickers and some rhinestones. AH-HA!!! Something to work with!! I applied the cute stars nail sticker to my pointer fingers and then took some Cult Nails Nevermore and added one single dot on each of my ring fingers. I then proceeded to arrange some teal and hot pink rhinestones around the dot to create a flower. Once I had everything arranged I added a top coat of Wicked Fast again to seal everything in and added it to the other nails as well as a shine refresher. Voila!! A simple easy nail art fix!!

Cult Nails polishes and treatments can be purchased here.

Morgan Taylor Coming Up Roses

Today I have another Morgan Taylor polish for you guys. I have to say that I am loving this brand, they have a great formula! This one is called Coming Up Roses.

Coming Up Roses is a beautiful rosy nude that I found pretty close to Zoya Brigitte. I may have to do a comparison post on these two. But anyways, now on to this one!

I have to say that the formula on this rosy/mauve nude was amazing! It went on smooth with no streaks or gloops. It dried fairly quickly and had a nice shine on it's own.

I used 2 coats over a base coat and then topped it off with a coat of Out The Door for shine and protection. Pictures were taken indoors with artificial lighting and no flash.

You can find out more information about Morgan Taylor products here on their site. Normally on any kind of beauty supply stores that carry Morgan Taylor products require you to have a cosmetology license but if you google there are a couple ways to purchase them if you don't have a license, Amazon is one of them.

OPI Amazon Amazoff

First off let me say that I am sorry I only had one post for all of you this week but I have been super craZy busy and haven't hardly even had time to do my nails let alone do some nail art to show you. Hopefully after this weekend it will settle down because I don't believe that I will have any more grad parties, baby showers, or birthday parties to attend.

Well, last week I stopped at Ulta like I love to do every now and then to check things out. I actually went there looking at the Urban Decay Naked palettes trying to decide if I should get one or not. I still haven't decided....  Anyhow, I always stop and check out the nail polish. Well, I was happy to see that they still had a bunch of the OPI Brazil collection and there had been a few colors from that collection that I desperately wanted. Then I seen a sign...2 for $16!!! It was meant to be! I snatched up the two colors that I wanted the most and I am here to show you one of them.

Here is OPI Amazon Amazoff. This is a gorgeous teal green creme! I think when I saw the press release for this collection, this is the one that stood out the most to me and was at the top of my wish list for this collection.

The application of this creme was amazing, I never really had any problems with OPI polishes so I wasn't expecting this one to be any different. It applied smoothly and evenly, no streaking or goops. It dried fairly quickly and had a nice shine to it on it's own. I did apply a base coat so I can't wait to see if this one will stain (I have problems with similar shades in other brands staining even with a base coat). I can tell you the during clean-up I did not notice any staining there so that's a good sign.

I added a topcoat to this for added shine and protection. Pictured in all pics is 1 coat of basecoat, 2 coats of polish, and 1 coat of fast dry topcoat (Out The Door). Pictures were taken indoors with artificial lighting and no flash.

OPI normally retails for around $9 per bottle and can be purchased in a multitude of places such as WalMart, Target, Ulta, many salons, and beauty supply stores such as Sally Beauty Supply. You can also check out OPI's site here.

Morgan Taylor Casual Cool Collection

Today I have the fabulous Spring 2014 Casual Cool Collection from Morgan Taylor for you. This collection consists of 6 gorgeous polishes, these are a throwback to the 90's and inspired by the athletic wear, vivid pastels and bright hues that ruled the school in the 1990’s.

Let's get on with it.....

First up is New School Nude which is a fresh, sheer nude.

I used 2 coats and no topcoat for these pics.

Next is Oh Snap, It's Silver! This is a sassy, multi-dimensional silver metallic.

I used 2 coats and no topcoat for these pics.

This is Ahead of the Game. It is a soft pastel yellow shimmer. The shimmer in this is really subtle but perfect for this color.

I'm not really a yellow person but I like the pastel shade of this with the slight shimmer. It actually looks good with my skin tone.

I used 2 coats of color and no topcoat for these pics.

New Kicks on the Block is a stylish pastel purple pink.

I used 2 coats of color and no topcoat for these pics.

Varsity Jacket Blues is cool, bright medium blue.

I love this one more than I thought I would!!

I used 2 coats of color and no topocat for these pics.

Lastly is Get Sporty With It, a vibrant coral red creme.

This is a great shade for spring and on into summer. I think I will be wearing this one a lot!

I used 2 coats of color and no topcoat for these pics.

Then just for fun I tried a cute skittles mani with 5 of the 6 shades. I just love how bright and vibrant the colors are and I've gotten so many compliments on these shades. I used this as a base to some nail art so you'll have to wait for my next post to see what I did!! ;)

I am new to Morgan Taylor polishes so I wasn't sure what to expect with them. I love them! I think that their formula is great, nice and smooth. The only one I had a little streaking with was Ahead of the Game but I have noticed that with just about every yellow I've tried, no matter what the brand is. For me it all smoothed out with the second coat though so that was nice. I would say dry time was pretty average. I wanted to show you all these without a topcoat so that you could see just how much shine they have on their own. I always add a topcoat later even if they are shiny because I want the added protection.

I've been wearing this mani for a few days now and have very minimal tip wear and I type on a computer all day long for work so this is good. No chips to speak of either. Overall I am very impressed with Morgan Taylor and hopefully will be able to get my hands on more of their polishes.

Morgan Taylor Casual Cool Spring 2014 Collection is available as of  March 2014 while supplies last in professional beauty stores and salons nationwide. Suggested retail price is $8.50 per bottle. For more information, please visit www.morgantaylorlacquer.com.
